Operations control support

Technical end economical decisions to balance costs, risks and performance along assets life cycle.

Maintenance planning & scheduling that is aligned with strategic mine engineering objectives

A hybrid management and engineering consulting company, we focus on the solutions you need to create a cycle of continuous improvement in your mine’s performance. Since 1996 Tacmin has developed Lean mining and Performance improvement processes that integrate mining with mobile mechanical engineering maintenance.

Unlike most other similar consultancies, Tacmin expertise merges two worlds of engineering during asset performance improvement and mechanical maintenance assignments that assist our clients in making rapid, step-change improvements in operational performance.

Since our maintenance planning and scheduling is integrated with mine planning, asset performance improvement is imminent and mechanical maintenance planning and scheduling commences, once mining equipment performance was optimised.

Given the impact of Tacmin’s radical diverse approach to asset performance improvement, from the onset we pave the way to continuous improvement by way of Lean maintenance management throughout the complete maintenance chain.

Maintenance planning & scheduling

Complete equipment, maintenance and mine engineering management approach that seamlessly integrate and provides an interactive link between estimating, project control and enterprise accounting.

Attributed to decades of experience gained by our multi-disciplinary expertise in all aspects of mining with the aid of Mining Project Management Software has enabled us to develop a well-established decision analysis process integrated into the overall project management process, vital for improving project and asset performance. Aforesaid process has assisted numerous mining executives and boards from junior and major listed mining companies to take informed decision for their mines in Africa.

Maintenance life-cycle estimation

Estimating is a substantial component of benchmarking and it seamlessly exchanges data with all other applications and modules within our project control system. It is a resource and production based analytical estimating solution that naturally flows from analysis, benchmarking, pre-tender to post-tender project management.

Maintenance planning and scheduling

Tacmin’s maintenance planning and scheduling tools are integrated with planning and scheduling of assets in the context of mine engineering which provides a powerful critical path network system designed specifically for the built environment. It can be used effectively by a non-planner, but has the features and functionality required by the professional and its complete integration with estimates provides cost/value forecasts and cash flow analysis.

Maintenance budget forecasting / benchmarking

Asset maintenance forecast quantities, values and resources, use estimating and valuation information, and assist with better project planning. Our innovative maintenance project control software integrates the BOQ and the programme, allowing you to: allocate items from the BOQ to activities; bill an item to many activities; specify how much to allocate to each activity and where to spread the activity.

Asset maintenance monthly valuations

Our maintenance project control software module delivers continuity between estimating and post-tender commercial control. It gives you immediate access to all the information used to price the tender and allows on-site staff to carry out all post-tender commercial functions.

Subcontractor management

Our subcontractor maintenance management software module controls progress qualities and provides a rolling subcontract progress update, supplies information on the subcontractor bill as well as other costs, claims, charges, on-site materials and variation orders.

Cost and allowable

Our maintenance project control software makes Earned Value Management (EVM) simple with its cost control capability, ensuring effective construction cost control management and EVM provides a series of curves and their derivatives used for the control and measurement of a project’s performance.

Asset life-cycle decision analysis

Equipment life-cycle cost analysis (LCCA) is typically used as one component of the equipment fleet management process and allows the fleet manager to make equipment repair, replacement, and retention decisions by a given piece of equipment’s economic life. The objective of this analysis is to maximise the cost-effectiveness of the fleet by optimising the overall life-cycle value of each piece in the fleet.

For more than twenty-one years we performed real-time decision making, risk assessments, valuations and comparisons during mining industry related trade-off studies, benchmarking, mine optimisation, operations improvement, equipment performance, mineability studies, capital and operating cost studies with the aid of a well-established decision analysis.

Tacmin’s mechanical maintenance analysis process is totally integrated with an asset performance analysis that is directly connected to the mine production schedule.

Hence forward-looking life-cycle prediction analysis measures the impact that increased maintenance cost has on mining cost. Also easy to compare during a typical asset maintenance analysis is how the decreased mechanical availability of machines affects production as well as their associated mining costs.

Unique to the LCCA method is that Tacmin has successfully applied the same process for more than two decades during assignments on numerous multi-commodity open-pit mines across Africa, and as such our expertise equip over decades of experience in analysing and predicting the impact that an infinite variable case scenarios have on mining, production & cost.
